Solidarity to RMT members on Strike

450 rail signal staff will be on strike from 12 today on Tuesday over rosta agreements.

Bob Crow, general secretary of the RMT, is being quoted on the BBCas saying "The fact is, how can you have a balanced lifestyle, when you get told on the Thursday that, for example, you'll get next Tuesday off and you've got childcare arrangements, social arrangements, then you're told on the Monday that we can now change your roster and you've now got to come to work. It's totally unacceptable in 2008."

Press release from RMT here http://www.rmt.org.uk/Templates/Internal.asp?NodeID=112754

Bob Crow "If our members are to have any chance of a decent work-life balance and the ability to make plans with their families it is important that Network Rail sticks to its side of the agreements we have.

"We have spent two days in talks at ACAS trying to reach agreement, but the company is still trying to rewrite the agreed rostering principles without consulting or negotiating, and that means today's action will go ahead as planned at noon.

"We remain available for talks and I would urge Network Rail to get back around the table with us to find the solution to this dispute,"

So solidarity greetings to all those who are about to walk out on strike - strength to your elbow an all that.
