Letter to Guardian - Len McCluskey leading for Prentis and Kenny to follow

I sent this in following the guardians appalling editorial today http://is.gd/j3w9J

Sir,

Your Leader column tells trade unionists - in effect - that there is nothing we should do to resist cuts coming from a Government, and in which you deride us for referring to them as ConDems (Trade unions: Leading nowhere, 20 December).

You denounce Len McCluskey for " indiscriminate opposition to all cuts." Why is this?

Is it because you support the "savage cuts" which Vince Cable advocated even before you asked us to vote for him in May?

Or is it just that now you see the consequences of this "new" politics of coalition you find yourselves, in the middle of the road, frozen in the headlights of the coming attack on our welfare state?

As a trade unionist I think it is about time the leadership of the big 3 unions (UNITE,UNISON and GMB) start fighting back and I hope to see Dave Prentis (UNISON) and Paul Kenny (GMB) following Mcluskey's lead.

Yours
Marshajane Thompson
